Numerus clausus and decentralised selection to be introduced for certain Bachelor’s programmes from 2012

The number of people wishing to study at TU Delft has risen enormously in recent years. Naturally that is something we are very pleased about, but we also want to ensure that we are able to continue providing students with a good standard of education and that there is enough space in the classrooms. For that reason, TU Delft operates a ‘numerus fixus’ system with decentralised selection and a weighted lottery for a number of Bachelor’s programmes.

There are three ways of gaining access to programmes subject to a numerus fixus: direct admission, decentralised selection and a weighted lottery. The Architecture, Industrial Design Engineering and Aerospace Engineering Bachelor’s programmes use these methods for selecting students for the available places.

More information about the procedures used with the programmes can be found here:

In order to be able to allocate the limited number of places in these programmes to the students who have signed up, there is a national selection and weighted lottery procedure. More information on this can be found on the DUO website.

If you have any questions about the numerus fixus, send an e-mail to info@remove-this.tudelft.nl.
