Interdisciplinary Design Project
During the interdisciplinary project, students of different backgrounds and different study paths collaborate in a complex interdisciplinary design project. They will draw up a design plan and execute this plan under the guidance of two lecturers. The results will be presented and defended before a committee (the two lecturers, an added examinator and where possible an external stakeholder).
The interdisciplinary design project brings together TIL students from all specialisations and will be offered twice a year for groups of 4-6 students. For participating students the two most important learning goals of this curriculum element are:
- working in an interdisciplinary team of experts (their student colleagues)
- applying (preferably all) their acquired knowledge and skills in solving real life transport, infrastructure and logistics problems
Each group will have an individual project. It will cover the TIL field in such a way that TIL environments, TIL arena's, TIL systems, and TIL facilities will be elaborated on in a design perspective.
In terms of subjects a number of choices are possible and conceivable. A number of large and contemporary design project portfolio’s may be made available by the TIL staff in which case students may express their preferences (one favourite and a reserve) for a specific project after which students are assigned to a project according to these preferences insofar this is possible. Alternatively (or additionally) students may propose their own projects.
