All research unit will be assessed once every six years. The units of evaluation may differ between the participating organisations but they will be referred to as 'institutes' (research discipline). An institute may be defined as 'a group of researchers with an articulated shared mission operating under the same management'. Every institute is devided into several research programmes.
The DUT accomodates the following disciplines:
Aerospace engineering (faculty LR)
Applied physics (part of the faculty of TNW)
Architecture (faculty of BK)
Chemical engineering (part of the faculty of TNW)
Civil engineering (part of the faculty of CiTG)
Computer science (part of the faculty of EWI)
Earth science (part of the faculty of CiTG)
Electrical engineering (part of the faculty of EWI)
Industrial design engineering (faculty of IO)
Marine technology (part of the faculty of 3mE)
Materials science (part of the faculty of 3mE)
Mathematics (part of the faculty of EWI)
Mechanical engineering (part of the faculty of 3mE)
Technology and management (faculty of TBM) this includes philosophy
Urban and regional research (institute OTB)
