FAQ
1. Am I in the GS?
PhD students who started their PhD on or after the opening of the Graduate School at their faculty are automatically members of the Graduate School.
The faculties of AB&E, IDE and EEMCS opened their Graduate School on September 1, 2011.
The faculties of 3ME, AE, CEG, TNW and TPM opened their Graduate School on January 1, 2012.
2. I started my PhD at TU Delft before the start of the GS. What changes for me?
Nothing changes because you will not be part of the GS. However, you should register as a PhD student at the Office of the Beadle, if you have not done so already. More information
3. I started my PhD before my faculty Graduate School opened. Can I join?
If you started your PhD in 2011 you may join the GS if your promotor and the director of your faculty GS agree. They must also agree to pay the entrance fee of €2,500,-. If you started your PhD before 2011 you cannot join the GS.
4. I am a member of a Research School, do I have to be in the Graduate School as well?
Yes, you do. Discuss your curriculum with your supervisors, and enquire whether the courses from your Research School can also be recognised within your DE programme.
5. I am an External/Internal PhD student, can I take part in the DE pogramme?
Yes, if you started your PhD in 2011 you may join the GS. However, taking part means all conditions apply. Your promotor and the director of your faculty GS must agree. You will have to complete the DE programme and the entrance fee of €2,500,- must be paid.
6. Who decides which DE courses I take?
You decide together with your supervisors. During the first three months of your PhD you should lay the foundations of your PhD by discussing and filling out the PhD Agreement. Amongst other things, you make a preliminary selection of the courses you want to take over the coming years. If in time, you discover that your needs have changed, you adjust your course plan in consultation with your supervisor.
