C8.M1 Awareness, Communication and Coping Strategies
Course description:
The aim of the course AWARENESS, COMMUNICATION, COPING STRATEGIES is to become aware of personal qualities, strengths and weaknesses. Well-developed coping strategies support you in purposeful self-reflection about your learning process. These skills are an important part of leadership strategies and facilitation strategies as well.
Course objectives:
After this course you are able to:
- Understand the impact and influence on others and to give constructive communication (receiving and giving criticism);
- Recognise and evaluate received feedback as objectively as possible and in a constructive way;
- Listen purposefully and openly, recognising and putting aside obstructive biases or assumptions;
- Deal with consequences of different behaviour outcome.
Teaching method:
During the course you design your personal development plan and there will be a follow up. We work with your daily practice experiences (e.g. dealing with support personal; dealing with appraisal). The used techniques and methods are: behavioural analysis and strategies (exercises, role exercises), cognitive techniques (basic beliefs), mindfulness, observation and reflection/ discussion. You will receive a handout with the theoretical background.

Paula Meesters is licensed psychologist and trainer. She works at TU Delft/ Educational and Student Affairs (Student Support) since 1993 and for the Graduate School. The background is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
