TU Delft racing car powered by biofuels

TU Delft student team races in the Formula Student Competition in a formula racing car of their own construction. The TU Delft vehicle is powered by bioethanol. In August the team were the victors in the German race at the Hockenheim circuit. They also secured the prize for the most efficient racing car. The team had previously raced in the US and at Silverstone in the UK. From 28 to 30 August they will themselves be staging the DUTch Open Event in Zoetermeer.

The racing car - energy efficient racing using biofuel

The DUT08 is an improved version of its seven predecessors. The lightweight vehicle, weighing only 156 kg, is energy efficient and powered by 85% bioethanol. Read more about the eighth racing car and the sustainable transport initiatives at TU Delft

The DUT08 team is made up of a total of 54 students from a range of programmes at TU Delft.

DUTch Open

From 28 to 30 August the TU Delft racing team will join forces with partner universities to stage the DUTch Open, an unofficial Formula Student event at the Silverdome in Zoetermeer. At the DUTch Open various teams from across Europe will race against each other in both old and new racing cars. The cars will be judged on acceleration, autocross, endurance and design.

The Formula Student Competition

Formula Student is a design competition for students. Student teams from more than 400 universities worldwide design, build, test and race their own Formula racing cars. The vehicles are judged not only in terms of speed. Read more about the Formula Student Competition.
