Regulations

Delft Innovation Award 2011

1. General

1.1

Delft Innovation Award is an initiative from Delft University of Technology, to encourage scientists to develop a design or an invention.

1.2 

By participating to the contest entrants accept the regulations of Delft Innovation Award 2011. 

1.3

The collective (labour) agreement for research organizations is applicable.

1.4

Delft University of Technology has the right to change the regulations at all times.

2. Participation

2.1

Delft Innovation Award is open for innovations of all faculties of Delft University of Technology.

2.2

Participants for the Delft Innovation Award must be members of the scientific staff of the Delft University of Technology.

2.3

The design should present a clear advantage on earlier work.

2.4

The design should be the entrants own original work which is the entrants own responsibility and concern. The design should not infringe upon intellectual of industrial property rights of other parties. In the case of infringement Delft University of Technology has the right to disqualify the entrant.

2.5

The registration deadline is Friday 23 September 2011. There is no limit to the number of entries for each participant or team of participants, but you need to fill out a separate entry form with each entry.

All forms received after Friday 23 September 2011 shall not be taken in consideration.

3.  Award and prices

3.1

The Delft Innovation Award consists of the following prizes:

  • Delft Innovation Award winner   € 20.000
  • DEMO award winner                 € 20.000 (in kind)

 

The prize is to be spent on further development of the design and shall be allowed to the department the winners are related to.
The DEMO prize is for the further development of the innovation as a prototype within the DEMO facilities. 

4. Procedure award

4.1

Digital proof of your design should be sent to innovation@remove-this.tudelft.nl. Non-digital proof (like prototypes, scalemodels, cd-roms etc.) can be brought or sent to Anneke Verkerk, YES!Delft, Molengraaffsingel 12, 2629 JD Delft.
Put the name of your innovation and a follow number on each attachment and the total number of attachments. Please do not write the participant's name on it, as the selection of nominated innovations will be made anonymously. For example: [name of innovation], 1 of 4.

4.2

The innovation should be presented in the form of a prototype, (structural design) drawing, rough draft, (scale)-model, diagram or beta-version to show how it will work in real-life.

4.3

The participant will be informed by e-mail.

4.4

The selection of the finalists will be done by a selection committee with members from all faculties of the Delft University of Technology.

4.5

The jurors for this contest are: the first round will be judged by a selection committee as described in 4,4. The final presentations will be judged by successful Dutch designers and engineers.

4.6

All innovations shall be judged on innovativeness and applicability and on two criteria that the participant should choose. Each criterion counts for 25 percent.

4.7

The finalists will present their work on 6 December 2011 to the jury in person. The jury will consist of scientific and business people from outside the Delft University of Technology.

4.8

The decisions of the members of the selection committee and expert jury are final and binding, and no correspondence about the results can be made.
