Delft Innovation Award 2011
Contest structure
The contest is divided in the following steps:
1. Qualifying round
Participants handed in their contribution. The selection committee, composed of members of all faculties, was in charge of the first round evaluation. They decided over the 24 finalists.
Who could participate in the competition ?
All scientific staff members of Delft University of Technology could participate in this competition, e.g. PhD-students, researchers, post docs, lecturers, assistant professors, associate professors, full professors. Students, both in the Bachelor or Master phase of their study, are excluded. They ccould either participate individually or in teams.
2. Public choice award
All the selected innovations (24 in total) will be published. Everyone gets the chance to vote for their favourite innovation. The innovation which is the public’s favorite will receive a special award. The team of the most popular invention will receive the Public’s Choice Award 2011 on the 6th of December and a ticket to the stage for the final presentations to the expert jury.
3. Final
During the final on the 6th of December 2011 from 13.00 to 19.00 hours, all selected innovations will be presented to the audience and jury members. The expert jury will choose the winners of the Delft Innovation Award 2011 and the special DEMO Award. You are kindly invited to attend the final at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (Landbergstraat 15, Delft). Please register at www.aanmelder.nl/dia2011.
Expert jury
The jury of experts are selected by their specific interest, knowledge and experience in the field of technology and innovation:
- Magda Veenendaal - Managing Partner Engaging Leadership Group
- Arnoud de Geus - Business development manager at Sioux Technologies
- Hans Droge - Senior Vice President Research & Development at Unilever
- Hans Ramler - Director Royal BAM Group nv
- Peter Werkhoven - Managing Director Technical Sciences at TNO
- Harry Baayen - Managing Director of Deltares
- Frans Nauta - Entrepreneurship programme leader at Climate KIC
- Rinke Zonneveld - Director Entrepreneurship Department at Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation
- Gerrit Kahlmann Director of TU Delft DEMO
- Rector Magnificus Prof. Karel Luyben will act as the chairman of the jury.
Intellectual Property
Participating in the Delft Innovation Award 2011 means that your innovation will be published during the Public Choice Award and final. - November: campaign for the Public Choice Award
- 6th of December: Final
Award and prizes
The jury will decide, on the 6th of December 2011, which innovations will receive the awards:
- €20.000 - Delft Innovation Award: to be spent on the further development of the innovation
- €20.000 - DEMO-award: to further develop the innovation into a prototype at the DEMO facilities (in kind)
